Robert Corsaro

Strategic Advisor, Food and Beverage

New York, NY

Robert J. Corsaro has over 30 years of experience within the consumer goods industry, including highly successful stints at Nabisco, (Mondelez), PepsiCo, Snapple and Carvel. Bob’s deep expertise includes broad based management; finance, production and chain headquarters account management. At Snapple, Bob helped create the successful introduction of a new beverage category-ready –to –drink-iced teas- and was a key player in building the brand from a small regional company to one that became a household name. Bob spearheaded the authorization of Snapple products to the major supermarket, convenience, wholesale and mass mass drug merchandiser accounts and was responsible for five sales regions that comprised 63% of Snapple’s total sales volume for a $450,000,000 market with an annual operating budget of $29.8M. Snapple sold to Quaker Oats for $1.7B.

After Snapple’s initial public offering, Bob was recruited by Carvel as Executive Vice-President to lead the conversion from a franchised retail business to a supermarket distributed consumer package Goods Company. Bob held direct accountability for sales, production and direct store distribution of Carvel’s frozen desserts products. A major focus had been the expansion, which Bob successfully doubled to over 3500 supermarkets.

Despite startup costs, Carvel was able to reduce distribution expenses by more than ten percent. During Bob’s timeframe, Carvel converted a loss in 1995 to a profit in 1996 of approximately $3MM. Bob’s focus was to build a strong foundation for future growth. He reorganized the company into a structure, recruited experienced sales personnel, and froze geographic expansion to better leverage the asset base and marketing expenditures.

Bob developed and implemented pricing, trade execution, operational plans, including sales goals to support the strategic plans. In addition, he developed and implemented long-term strategic plans to grow the Carvel Brand, increase supermarket share volume and achieve additional distribution outlets. Bob managed in excess of $200 million in sales, $20 million in direct operating expense and over fifty management employees.

After that success with Carvel, Bob was one of the founding partners of a Brand Management Company where he brought Hint Water, Zico and many other brands to market. Bob takes great pride in the strong relationships and experience he’s built over the years and knows this a key ingredient to success. Bob has his pulse on trends, both culturally and in the food and beverage world and understands what the consumer wants, and how they choose what to purchase.
